Active Bucks

Chilterns Nordic Walkers has teamed up with Active Bucks to provide simple, fun and affordable exercise classes suited to older and less active residents in the Chilterns and South Bucks areas.

Nordic Walking is quite a unique fitness activity in that it provides benefits for everybody from those with medical problems to the super fit. Whatever age, fitness level or goal – Nordic Walking is suitable, effective and enjoyable.

Physical/wellbeing Benefits:

Active Bucks Wellbeing Walk.
A gentle safe way to walk yourself fitter! These 45 – 60 minute long walks include exercises that help with flexibility, balance and strength whilst using poles to improve general fitness and increase joint mobility. These Nordic Walking sessions are suitable for those who want to build up to the longer or more vigorous walks or may have concerns about their health. The main components comprise of a warm-up, Cardio fitness, muscular strength, posture and balance using the poles, relaxation with some mindfulness techniques, finishing with stretches to round off our walk.

Where there is a handy cafe, group members often join together for a coffee and chat.

Poles are provided at no extra cost.


When & Where we Nordic Walk.

In all locations the ground we walk on is level (more or less), but can be bumpy and/or muddy. Full location details are given in the Activities sections.

Wear footwear suitable for outdoor walking and clothes to match the weather.

Choose from one of these three locations:

Mondays 10.00am Gerrards Cross.

We meet opposite the Community Centre. After our walk, the Rendezvous Cafe in the Community Centre is handy.

Tuesdays 12.30pm Amersham

We meet in the Pavilion car park at the end of Hervines Road. Afterwards, we can choose from a number of nearby places to refresh.

Thursdays. 10.00am Farnham Common Burnham Beeches

We meet by the Beeches Cafe inside Burnham Beeches.
